Take An Inventory
There is a lot of research on how gratitude can lead to greater feelings of happiness. I don't really want to go into that in this post, but rather invite you to take a gratitude inventory at the end of each day. Before you go to sleep, ask yourself, "what happened today that I am grateful for?" You can even write these things down. The important thing is training yourself to look for things to be grateful for, and they don't have to be big things. In fact, most of our gratitudes are about small things like the feel of the sun on our face or the person who held the door open for you.
So, as you take inventory, what will you include today? For me, I'm grateful for my body that helped me bring in wood to stay warm on these cold nights.
